Lisandro is a 15 year old boy from Argentina. He has been attending a small Italian school in Argentina with 35 kids in his class, so he is used to a small school. Even though he says that he not very good in Italian he likes a typical Mediterranean sport: Soccer. Basket ball is another one. He has a close relationship with his parents and he is the one taking care of Lara, their dog. Considerable and sociable are the two words he chose to describe himself and besides being active he loves to socialize with new people and friends to improve not only his English, but to expand his own horizon. Lisandro likes to spend time fishing and goes with his brother often. With his interests in Math and History he is thinking of a career in law in the future.

This mature and responsible 14-yr-old from Thailand is talented and ambitious. Sathin's nickname, Song, means "number 2," but it also indicates his strong musical interests in singing as well as playing guitar and flute. He is active in many sports, but tennis is his favorite to play weekly and sometimes daily with family and friends. Song already knows that he wants to be a financial adviser because he loves to read financial management books and math is his favorite subject. Song is diligent in his studies and chores at home, and realizes he will have to work harder in his American school. He wants very much to learn more English because he says it is important for "communicating with people all over the world." His older brother has been on exchange to the USA, and Song is very anxious to see the many landscapes, races, & cultures combined in American life.

2009 Spring Semester Student from Argentina a 17 year old

Santiago is a twin who lives with his mother, her husband and his three sisters
although he does visit his dad and stepmother. Teachers describe him as a
young man with a good sense of humor and good English skills. A future naval
engineer and an avid rower, he trains six days a week and often represents his
club in a number of regattas around the country. He enjoys spending time with
his friends, often eating out, then going to the movies or the house of friends.
Weekends he adds soccer and rugby to his schedule, then time with family
and friends. He has no assigned family responsibilities although he is
sometimes asked to care for his younger sisters. He is looking forward to this
chance to study abroad, meeting new people and improving his English. He
thanks you for opening your home to him.

2009 Spring Semester Student from Argentina a 17 year old Female

Maria Emilia (she goes by Emilia), the youngest of four children, considers
herself to be sociable, responsible, strong and loving, dedicated and devoted.
She states that she has not had so many responsibilities as the rest of her
family. With her friends, Emilia enjoys getting together to talk and to cook
typical Argentine food. She enjoys big city life and all it has to offer. She enjoys
sports because they help her forget her problems and because sports give her
the possibility to meet new people. Her career plans are unclear, though she is
considering economics. She believes that being an exchange student will
enable her to learn about different cultures and communicate with the rest of
the world. On the weekends she goes to her parents' farm and rides horses
with the family. One of her teachers describes Emilia as happy, enthusiastic,
open and friendly. She loves nature, is adaptable, and has a positive attitude
to life.

Thadeu's evaluator describes him as very musical, smart and with a wonderful
sense of humor. He likes computer games and has a passion for soccer. He
and his Dad like to attend weekend soccer matches. He likes spending time
with his friends. Thadeu travels with his family. He is very anxious to become
part of an American family and experience life in an American high school.

2009 Spring Semester Student from Chile a 15 year old Female

Isabel is described as cheerful, tolerant, communicative, respectful and
responsible. She makes friends easily and is mature for her age. One of her
teachers says she is a leader and a hard worker. She gets along very well with
her family, and says she'll do all she can to fit into her Host Family! She has
visited Cuba, Florida, Argentina, Uruguay, New York, Boston, Paris and
London. Isabel says her family is pretty busy, but they do enjoy having lunch
together on the weekends and sometimes take long walks together or go to
the cinema or theatre. She's a member of her school's debating society, and
has visited Peru to debate! Her sense of humor is very apparent in her host
family letter. She would like to be in a small family with younger siblings. She
knows that the exchange experience will help her grow up as a person, and
she wants to know the country better.... not as a tourist. She is highly
motivated to have a successful exchange experience.

2009 Spring Semester Student from Denmark a 17 year old Male

Mature, well behaved, outgoing, sociable, loves soccer. Would this young man
be a good fit for your family? Kristian likes to challenge himself, he is a good
student who is cheerful and likes to have fun. He says he treats his friends and
girl friends with great care because he likes to have fun with them. He has a
job in a supermarket on weekends to make pocket money. At home he cuts
the grass and takes care of his little sister. Every Sunday night is home night
and he and his family play board games and cards. Once a year the whole
family gets together for a weekend and they play sports, visit and have a huge
campfire and roast marshmallow's, even his 93 year old grandmother
participates.

2009 Spring Semester Student from Switzerland a 17 year old Female

Nadia, age 17, is a very active teen, who enjoys practicing some kind of sport
almost every day. Her particular favorites are dancing and gymnastics, which
she's been doing since she was 6 years old. She also likes to snowboard and
sometimes go hiking, rafting or camping with friends. Nadia enjoys learning
languages, and studies English, French and Italian, along with her native
German. She's also very interested in math, history and law. She has traveled
a lot with her family (perhaps because her dad is a pilot) - throughout Europe
and to the USA and Thailand. Nadia says she's a happy person, honest,
respectful, sensitive and a little romantic. She has fun both being in cities and
out in nature. A good communicator, she enjoys discussing interesting topics
with others. In her free time, Nadia likes to read, watch movies and hang out
with friends - doing handicrafts, going shopping and playing cards. She's
orderly, and responsible for keeping her room clean. She especially likes to eat
healthy food. Nadia hopes to be part of a lively American family, with other
active kids. She is looking forward to showing her host family the Swiss way of
life. (Prefers only smaller or calm pets - fear of large, aggressive animals.)

2009 Spring Semester Student from Switzerland a 17 year old Female

Nadine is a "people person". She loves meeting her friends just to talk about
life, but also (along with her friends) has a "passion for sports". Currently a
volleyball player, Nadine was a figure skater for 11 years until the time
commitment became too great. Nadine and her family enjoy playing games
and cards, and their dog is also a special family member. Nadine likes to
daydream and capture her thoughts in writing, and offers to share her journal
with her host family. She also likes to listen to her friends' problems and help
them think of a solution. Because she hates injustice, Nadine is interested in a
career as a lawyer. Living in America is a big step towards capturing her
dream of traveling around the world. (Note: Afraid of large farm animals.)
